Flamenco Rosario launched the NUEVO series in 2018, collaborating with talented and internationally acclaimed choreographers to foster an exchange of new artistic ideas and perspectives. Previous collaborators include Karen Lugo (2018), Gabriel Aragú (2019), and Albert Hernández (2022). This year, we welcome from Spain award-winning dancer and choreographer Víctor Fernández and renowned cantaora (singer) Mercedes Cortés.

A timeless and traditionalTablao Styleperformance as you would experience in Spain. Itoriginated in the era of theCafé Cantantes(circa 1850). The form showcases dancers, musiciansand singers sharing the stage. In keeping with thetablaostradition, the evening’s program isnot predetermined but rather follows the spontaneity and improvisational nature of flamenco.The dancers perform for theCuadrobehind them as well as for the audience in front.

A healthy dose of competition is an important part of the show, as is the rapport betweenperformers and audience members. Don’t be shy to shout “Ole!”
